An Afternoon in Regensburg.
A very relaxing day today. We arrived at Regensburg at about 2pm. The walking tour was interesting and we got to look at another Church, this time Gothic. All these old buildings seem to be under constant maintenance; an expensive business for the country. The city has a stone arch bridge that crosses the Danube and the arches are too narrow for the cruise boats to go through, so to exit the city we needed to back up and go via a canal and a lock. Bruce and I walk across the bridge to visit the marina. Lots of families were out in the streets as it was a public holiday.
Before returning to the boat we tried the sausages, mustard and beer from the oldest kitchen in all Germany. We were served six small sausages on sauerkraut. The mustard was quite sweet and Bruce ate his with a bread roll. Needless to say we are not dinning in the dinning room tonight.
We set sail for Nuremberg at about 5.30pm, 131 kms away. I got some pictures of the first lock we came to. They are fascinating. Tomorrow we reach the highest point (406 metres above the North Sea level) and then the locks will start to drain water rather than pump water in, so the level of the next part of the river is reached.

Hi Maria I am the blogger. The fault was not with the camera, i have to up load my photos to picasa first before I can upload them to the blog ( I am using the iPad) The WiFi on the boat won't let me load photos to picasa but it will let we load from picasa once they are there. frustrating !,! Having a great time. Bronwyn
